Castrads Finishes
Castrads sand, grind and fettle all edges of their cast iron radiator sections to ensure they’re smooth and free from flashing. They use their own high-quality 2 pack primer which finishes and hardens. Their Signature range of colours is cost-effective and designed to blend into most interiors. You can match your interior with Farrow & Ball® , Little Greene® and Benjamin Moore paints or choose from their Bare Metals collection for an unparalleled artisan finish. All finishes are covered by their ten-year Ironshield Guarantee.
Florence Bespoke Steel Range is manufactured by IRSAP, these can be finished in the Signature Range (except Black Iron) and finishes from the RAL Classics Range.
Signature Range
Castrads core range of popular neutrals and monochrome finishes, developed especially for cast iron.
They have refined our painting process over the years ensuring the finish is hard-wearing and stays looking great.
Each radiator is dip primed and cured with infra-red, then dipped and cured again. After priming, radiators get two coats of hard-wearing two-pack paint, again with infra-red curing in between.

A deep charcoal-like finish with a subtle metallic sheen, Anthracite offers a contemporary yet timeless finish. Its refined texture enhances the classic appeal of cast iron while complementing modern interiors with a bold, understated elegance.

Custom Paint Finishes
For a seamless drench or a vibrant pop, choose your colours from our favourite paint collections.
Castrads use genuine branded paints under licence from Little Greene, Farrow & Ball and Benjamin Moore. Radiators are finished with the same dip prime and painting process as for their Signature Collection finishes for intense colour and a tough, long-lasting finish.
We can’t offer cast iron samples of the branded paints because there are so many to choose from. For colour cards and plenty more detail on their paints head to the retailers’ websites. We don’t list every single branded paint finish online. If there’s something you’d like, get in touch.
Tumbled Bare Metal
Brilliant, lustrous finishes produced by hand using lacquers and specialist polishing techniques.
Castrads begin by tumbling the cast iron sections for 10 hours in a giant drum filled with ceramic pebbles. The sections are then tumbled for a further 8 hours with small porcelain beads and water.
Powdered porcelain from the beads makes a paste with the water which gives a high shine to the surface of the iron.
They then use layers of primer and tinted lacquers to create deep colours that allow the lustre of the metal to show through.

A different take on our Natural Brass finish. A little darker with a more aged look. Edging on industrial and much more in pure appeal. An understated gold that lends old world appeal to any cast iron radiator.

Polished By Hand Bare Metals
For the polished finishes as well as Natural Brass and Aged Gold, the process is entirely manual. Each section is carefully polished against a spinning wheel through 12 grades of increasingly fine abrasive to achieve the various effects. They are then lacquered to complete the finish.
Polishing cast iron is a highly labour-intensive process. For that reason, Castrads only polish those surfaces that will be seen. The side of the radiator that will face the wall is left lacquered but unpolished. This helps us keep the price you pay as low as possible. If all of the radiator will be seen please advise us and we will polish the whole radiator.
Castrads Mirror Polish and having both sides of the radiator polished, are priced on request. Please get in touch if you would like either of these options

Opulent and alluring. This Aged Gold finish is created exclusively for Castrads. Aged gold is created by harnessing pristinely smooth sections of radiator and powder coating this truly luxurious colour, creating a pure organic looking aged gold effect. Building the colour up layer by layer takes time and skill.

Fully polished cast iron with an etch coating for a matted finish. Unique to Castrads, contemporary and cool.

The radiator is hand polished to a high sheen, revealing the cast iron’s naturally pitted surface. Radiators in full polish are lacquered with Castrads RustBan to prevent oxidation of iron surface.

The highest grade of polish. Castrads take each radiator section through fifteen grades of abrasive, each finer than the last, to achieve a surface that is mirror-like and silky smooth. Finished with a gloss lacquer. The ultimate finish.

A warm, golden-bronze finish with an authentic, aged patina, Natural Brass exudes classic charm and timeless sophistication. Its rich, metallic tones add depth and character, making it a perfect choice for both traditional and contemporary interiors. Perfect for any feature room or statement hallway.

The lowest grade of polish. We use coarse abrasives to achieve a low-level lustre. Naturally pitted, an excellent finish for all radiators. Finished with a heavy-duty lacquer to protect the surface.
